The American Revolution Episode II: The Revenge of Ron Paul

by Austin W. Petersen

Thomas Jefferson

The Ron Paul Revolution shows no signs of stopping as it continues it’s relentless march across United States. Say what you will, the spirit of freedom is very much alive in this movement.

As I write this, Creedence Clearwater Revivals song, “Fortunate Son”, is playing and it makes me feel good. Very good. In a very bad, mischievous sort of way. It gives me great pleasure to see the establishment smear Dr. Paul because I know the truth is that the controversy spreads our message further. The beauty of it all is, we need only tell people to check the mans spotless record of honesty and integrity, and all the lies fall away. Without a doubt we are now in Ghandi’s “They fight you,” stage.I’ve just watched several of our extremely entertaining Boston Tea Party Call to Action videos. The Revolutionaries dressed as Indians throwing tea into the harbor is a classic piece of imagery in American Culture. Who wouldn’t be inspired to join the American rascals themselves and toss a few crates into the harbor just for the hell of it? My question I will attempt to answer is, what has helped to galvanize us all so effectively?

The imagery of the American Revolution, paintings, drawings, maps, and names are etched into our minds. As Americans we take great pride in our Bald Eagle, our Stars and Stripes and The Statue of Liberty. The painting of our first President crossing the Delaware can still inspire reverence in the mostly desensitized generation of young adults currently fanning the flames of this Congressmans new American Revolution. It makes sense to draw on these iconic models as they are the foundation of our basic civic education.

Today a person posted that they were caught crying at work after viewing the Land of the Free video at the bottom of this post. I must admit I almost did myself. The images of the British and the American soldiers clashing will always make my chest feel full of pride and defiance. These images are being put to good use by the Ron Paul Resistance Movement to inspire current supporters and new ones to speak with their checkbook. It has taken the decline of the Dollar, one of our greatest American icon to motivate some people to give it freely to a politician for the first time in their lives.

Our Revolution comes pre-loaded with all the images and icons we need to slap on our T-Shirts, and Bumper Stickers to attract the attention of the average Joe American. At the Philadelphia Rally last weekend someone raised the Join or Die Flag from a political cartoon drawn in 1754 by Benjamin Franklin. It was published in the Pennsylvania Gazette in support of the Albany Congress, whose purpose was to present a united English colonial front against the French in North America at the outbreak of the French and Indian War. It’s meaning is no less relevant to our movement.

Join or Die

The Ron Paul Rally Project sponsored and created the beloved picture of Dr. Paul set above the Constitution. Many photos of various supporters make up the entire portrait, adding a sense of tangible strength and solidarity to the work of art. No doubt it stirred hearts to support him at the Ames, Iowa Straw Poll it was advertising for.

Our Youtube Videos are absolutely career launchingly brilliant, and often devilishly clever in how they motivate us to open our pocketbooks.Donating on November 5th felt like a true sense of civic duty. One would imagine feeling remarkably ashamed by pledging to this cause and not paying up. I’m sure I am not the only person to feel this way. Can you even fathom a politician 5 years ago, whose profound character so inspired you, that you would feel real guilt for not donating to his campaign? Another poster invokes World War II and say’s “Doing all you can, Brother?” This calls into question all Americans to ask if they are doing enough to fix the obviously broken American Political system.

Doing all you can brother?

The genuine warmth and depth of emotion Ron Paul stirs in us is obvious. The images are just pictures. The feelings for the Second American Revolution is real.

“Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
Ooh, they’re red, white and blue.
And when the band plays “Hail to the Chief”,
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord” -John Fogerty
