In Denver, a game of Chess…

In Denver, a game of Chess…
By: Austin Petersen
In one of the defining moments in my career as your Volunteer Coordinator, I attended the Libertarian National Convention in Denver Colorado last week. It was a remarkable experience that few people who care about politics get to experience. But, they should.
As a member of your staff, I am required to remain impartial. Thus I was told that I should either attend Stewart Floods party, attend no ones party, or attend everyone’s parties, so as to be certain of my neutrality. Well, I’ve never been the type to sit around while everyone else is having fun, so I decided to do it all.
The talented rascals from Tierra Eclipse who engineered the Ron Paul money bombs joined me in my adventures in the evenings. I was extremely impressed with their ability to skillfully turn out professional video clips in a short amount of time for the Barr campaign for the convention, and still have the energy to stay up late to visit everyone’s evening events. Their work was instrumental in giving the Barr campaign an extra coat of polish that it needed to win.
George Phillies, and The Outright Libertarians had an amusing get together where we read out loud a flier from a local religious group who protested our convention. The leaflet read that the Libertarian Party was “Officially Immoral”, and stated that, “If Ron Paul lived in Berlin in 1944 and had said, “While killing Jews is invalid, a federal law banning the holocaust across all Germany’s 16 states would be equally invalid.” Everyone got a good laugh from the silliness of that argument.
Steve Kubby was gracious enough to share an amazing story of the time that he got to ride in a Jet plane for a media tour. It was fascinating listening to him eloquently recount breaking the sound barrier and taking the joystick to fly the plane on his own. It really put into perspective for me how much I could learn from all our wonderful candidates.
In the morning before the voting began I was working out in the gym when one Wayne Root came in and started cycling. We chatted lightly about the events, and he gave me some very helpful advice on how to start my own business. I’m looking forward to reading his books and hope that he would have some time in the future to teach me to become a “Millionaire Libertarian.”
Setting up the board…
As the voting process began I made quick friends with Idaho Chair, the extraordinary Rob Oates, who patiently answered my questions about the voting processes and proceedings. It was exciting to watch the debates and hear why certain groups supported one candidate over another. As I watched the voting unfold, I was reminded of a strategic game of chess, where the pieces maneuver for placement on the board.
Pawns fall to Knights
After a hard fought battle for the Presidential nomination of the Libertarian Party, Michael Jingozian and Christine Smith were toppled by Kubby and Phillies.
Christine exited with bitter words for her opponent. The abandonment of principle, in her estimation, was the death knell of the party.
Jingozian graciously accepted defeat and in a surprising turn endorsed Senator Mike Gravel. Later he would accept the position of Vice Chair in a contest between himself and Chuck Moulton in a surprise upset. Although Chuck’s service to the party has been thoroughly professional, delegates spoke of how they were interested to see how Michael could use his marketing skills to grow the party. Many people were visibly upset by the decision to remove Chuck, and it was not an easy decision to watch being made from the sidelines.
The remaining pieces re-aligned for another match as the Pawns exited the game.
Knights fall to Bishops
Newly minted Libertarian Mike Gravel, and longtime Libertarian George Phillies, fell under the advance of Ruwart, Root, and Barr.
Many people in the auditorium were supporters of the stalwart advocate of the American self-governance, former Senator Mike Gravel. I would be lying if I didn’t say that I was genuinely sad to see his exit of the arena with the declaration that his career in politics was over.
The man who bravely released the Pentagon Papers to the American public and filibustered the draft bravely ended his career with a thumbing of the nose to the establishment that sought to quiet his voice. It is a mark of pride that the Libertarian party so graciously welcomed him despite economic differences of opinion. The game continued…
Bishop defeated, moves to defense of King
When it became clear that Wayne Allyn Root would not win the nomination, he conceded defeat graciously and expressed his support for the candidacy of Bob Barr. This all but assured a Barr victory after many back and forth exchanges with Ruwart, who would be unable to pull a majority out of the Radical bloc of voters. It appeared likely that the Root supporters would rally to Barr after loud declarations of BARR-ROOT were chanted by a majority of delegates.
As Roots delegates and supporters began their politicking with Barr’s people, the Ruwart supporters waved their heart signs and braced themselves for the final portion of the match.

King takes Queen
After 6 rounds of voting, Bob Barr defeated Mary Ruwart to win the nomination. Steve Kubby issued a statement of solidarity subsequent to the events which had the effect of galvanizing many of the Radicals base. We have seen many people take George Phillies at his word that the enemy is out there, not amongst us.
Although some are leery of Barr’s candidacy, membership has been growing, the volunteer trickle has become a steady flow, and media requests for interviews are piling up. No matter what happens in this election cycle, one thing we know is for sure. This will be an unforgettably historic year for the Libertarian Party. I am excited, and honored to be a part of it.

Just got back from CPAC!!! News from the Front Lines!

February 8, 2008 · 3 Comments

I just got back from the airport after attending the CPAC forum today, and here’s my brief recap. The majority of people there were McCain supporters, and these are people that have absolutely unequivocally decided to “go down with the ship”. These people are for the most part not convertible in my opinion and we shouldn’t waste time on anyone who supports McCain. But, after Romney gave up the fight today, their supporters were NOT in favor of McCain, they were VERY receptive to Dr. Pauls message. Oh and on another note… Hucka-who? Out of the thousands of people that were there, I had to literally search hard to find one Huckabee supporter. That should tell you something right there. Now here is the problem that we are ALL aware of and I just can’t sit back and stay quiet about it. The official campaign is NOT DOING THEIR JOB!

I arrived as a guest of the Libertarian Party and hung out with them most of the day. As I mingled around at the event, I realized that I didn’t see any Ron Paul buttons or stickers anywhere. I figured that there really must not be much support for him among the conservatives, but how wrong I was. Lots of people who were not McCain supporters were very eager to hear more about Dr. Paul and wanted flyers or stickers to wear, but the official campaign did NOT SET UP A BOOTH! At CPAC! I was flabbergasted and I called over to National HQ immediately where I got someone who didn’t know much, didn’t have any info about why they weren’t set up there, and didn’t have any materials really to bring over. I wanted to rip my hair out. When Dr. Paul was speaking I handed out as many liberty cards and things that I just happened to have in my wallet but could have done more. There were a few Ron Paul supporters there who had signs but precious little literature or pins or stickers. These are so important because everyone wears a sticker to identify themselves and strike up conversations on issues related to whatever issue or candidate they are supporting. I couldn’t even find a Ron Paul sticker for myself!

The Libertarian Party would do better in my opinion. These kinds of bush league (pun intended) mistakes would not be made and thousands of Romney supporters might have left there with Ron Paul slimjims.

The Republicans have decided to go down with the sinking ship (McCain) and I think we should let them. The Romney supporters, given enough time, would vote for Dr. Paul in a general election, as would many democrats and millions of other disaffected Americans. We have a chance to make history with the real possibility of a viable third party run. If the campaign presses forward on the Republican ticket, it really will be a Quixotic run. We cannot let that happen. History will judge us by what actions we take over the next few months.

Republican, Libertarian, Independent, in the end it doesn’t matter. What matters is that we DO NOT GIVE UP THIS FIGHT!

Good night and good luck.

Nero Fiddles, as America burns…

nationalobvlivion.jpgIn regards to the CNN Presidential Debate in California

Shame on CNN. You have an opportunity to lead in Reporting with your obviously talented journalists with heart. People like Jack Cafferty and Wolf Blitzer who are actually reading our letters on air as if they gave a “you know what” about the country. And instead you allow the one man who speaks truth, to be marginalized by your petty allegiance to a dying philosophy of elitism. You, the media, have turned your back on your own countrymen, and betrayed everything this country was founded on in respect to fair play, and sportsmanship. The America I was raised to believe in was that our Journalists were scholars and carriers of the torch of literacy. Instead you contribute to the general stupidity of a country whose time has come as the world superpower. The powerful Chinese and European interests laugh at the fat, stupid Americans who seem to never learn their lesson in regards to history, or perhaps even… fiscal responsibility? The American Empire fades strangely into an era of Barbarism that rivals the Great Roman Empire. Please CNN, allow the games to continue, allow our Nero in the White House, to fiddle as we burn.

Defying CFR/MSM tyrants, the Ron Paul Revolutionaries Roar into 2008 with $3Million!!!

January 22, 2008 · 1 Comment

It appears nothing can stop the intellectual juggernaut that is Ron Paul!!! The hearts and minds of America are being stolen by a sweet old baby doctor who is returning them once again to their beloved constitutional principles. The Globalists business interests are clearly under threat, as a slumbering public spreads the “good news” of Freedom, Prosperity, and Peace.  Sweet land of liberty! Of thee I write!

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.

The poor masses of this country are finally standing up for themselves. Shame on the lap dog media for selling out their country for riches and power, and handing our country over to thieves and usurpers. It’s as if Dr. Paul is lighting our way back to Liberty, once again. A true “coalition of the willing” has invaded the American Electoral system, in the form of Ron Paul delegates, armed with the spear of Knowledge of History and Economics, wearing the Armor of Truth. Our Delegates are our foot soldiers, and I hope they make themselves known to us so that we can support them in any way possible. Make no mistake, these are our Shock Troops on the ground at the convention, and we’ll need to make sure they make convincing arguments but are unique and individual people.

Beware Patriots…we are contending with the most powerful force in global politics. Walk soft, and carry a big stick.

Onward!

Doomed to repeat it…

Franklin, Jefferson

by: Austin Petersen

Have our public servants learned nothing from History? More and more I want to pursue these people with harder questions on how we have gotten to where we are. I feel sometimes these people who are running for office, with the exception of course to Ron Paul, that none of them are applying the lessons of history to today’s modern politics. I’ve heard the funny slogan that we are the “United States of Amnesia,” and I am prone to believe it!

At exactly what point in the game did Preemptive war become an acceptable foreign policy? Weren’t we supposed to be a peaceful nation? We all remember President Woodrow Wilson’s policy of “Making the World Safe for Democracy,” which of course led to more overseas adventures. But now we have retained to give ourselves the right to aggressively bomb, invade, and occupy HUGE foreign nations! And people wonder why the economy is so bad?! Ay! This is an ENORMOUS financial burden to have to carry! This debt’s not going away soon my friends. 3 Trillion for an Iraqi war is 400K per household. And don’t even get me started on Social Security! LET US OUT NOW! The young people of this country better wake up quick. Let me tell you what guys, these people are bankrupting us, and we have our future money being spent on THIS! Is it worth it? Honestly? How bad do you really want to be in Iraq, when you might have… a house? 400,000 in taxes would buy you an AWESOME HOUSE!!! Meanwhile, DING DONG, the entitlements are beginning. Let’s face it kids, the baby boomers took over Washington and have set themselves up to live like kings on our dime.

This is criminal! The Federal ID is literally coming in months. Soon the Department of Homeland security (the famous wiretapping feds) will have a perfect record of who you are, where you are, what you are doing, and a completely accurate picture of how to find you if they want to at anytime.  The wool is being pulled over all of our eyes just as our Forefathers said it could happen. They paid a heavy price to give us The Constitution. It was for the future of this American nation that this gift was created. We should cherish it more so we can give it to our kids one day. Our National Symbols are too precious and dear to the spirit to allow them to be surrendered to Globalism and United Nations Resolutions. The battle is on for our minds, and we seem so eager to surrender our identity, national and personal. The more we march towards the visions of Global government, the weaker our Republic becomes.

If the youth of America who have a true stake in this election care, they will rid themselves of their ignorance of history and knowledge of our past, come to the Ron Paul Revolution, and let the noble spirit of Liberty again free this land.

Ron Paul Nationwide Phone Bank Event Saturday Dec. 15th!!!

December 13, 2007 · 3 Comments

clipboard01.jpg

My name is Austin Petersen, and I am an assistant organizer for the Ron Paul NYC Meetup Group. As you may have heard, the libertarians have opened up their phone bank system for us to use and I am coordinating a nationwide home based phone bank. Here is the release I have sent out for the phone bank project to call New Hampshire. If you could forward this to everyone and anyone you know I would really appreciate it. The goal is to get 1000 callers from 1 to 5PM EST this Saturday. Alot of people have claimed that the campaign does not want us to do this. That is NOT true. Please help if you can by passing this on! The need to make these calls is crucial to the outcome of the race.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hello everyone,

Austin Petersen here! I need all of you and everyone you know across the USA to volunteer to help with the HUGE HOME BASED PHONE DRIVE!!!

The greatest part about this event is that you can do it from home, you don’t have to go anywhere. All you’ll need is a phone and a computer with an internet connection!

The Libertarian Party has opened up their phone banking website for us to use at

www.ballotbase.org
If you would like to participate please go to ballotbase.org and register on their website. Once you have finished, you will receive a confirmation email. Then you’ll have a username and login. Then on Saturday you just log in, pick up your phone, and call the phone numbers. In the website is a very simple tutorial on how to use the system, there’s an interface that allows you to record the status of the call. It’s very important to get as many people as we can all over the USA or even the world to call New Hampshire that day. The phone bank will start at 1PM EST and will end at 5PM.

If you prefer you may come to Headquarters that day. Bring a laptop, and phone and we will provide the internet connection.

Again, to participate:

1. Register at ballotbase.org

2. Familiarize yourself with the website and use the easy tutorials they provide. Password for system is LIBERTY

3. On Saturday at 1PM EST log in to the website and start making calls. The script will be there directly underneath.

If you have any questions please ask. Thanks and have a great day!

A Pledge in honor of Ron Paul!

December 6, 2007 · Leave a Comment

 Soldier

My Fellow Americans and Paul supporters! Let’s make a new pledge! Let us all pledge AGAIN… our Lives, our Fortune, and Sacred Honor together as we reignite the cause of Peace, and Freedom in this Country. Yes, our American brothers and sisters have slept for such a long time that they look at us as if we have lost our minds, but they are only steps away from Freedom in the form of truth that Dr. Paul brings!

We must provide it to them if we are to have anything for ourselves and our futures. We must ONCE AGAIN unite across ALL divides and defend our country from the DOMESTIC enemy.

Unwittingly, we have given up our independent thought. Unaware we have allowed our industries to quietly go overseas. We laughed at our entertainment, danced under the American stars as these Dark Leaders have taken our country from under us. I say we TAKE IT BACK! No longer will we dwell in ignorance of our currency and of its manufacture and origins. We pledge today to abolish the CENTRAL BANK that DESTROYS OUR WEALTH AND ENSLAVES US IN DEBT! I say DOWN WITH THE TYRANTS!!! The “Ruling Class” and Murderous Militarists will fade into obscurity and the standing armies will cease to exist as a New Time of Peace will be born!

Our Country will prosper once again as a FREE NATION, where ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL! American brothers and sisters. Pledge here and now to me, Austin Wade Petersen of New York City, your LIVES, your FORTUNES, and your SACRED HONOR, that you will defend this country, and stand UNITED for these STATES OF AMERICA!

Yours in Liberty,

The American Revolution Episode II: The Revenge of Ron Paul

The American Revolution Episode II: The Revenge of Ron Paul

by Austin W. Petersen

Thomas Jefferson

The Ron Paul Revolution shows no signs of stopping as it continues it’s relentless march across United States. Say what you will, the spirit of freedom is very much alive in this movement.

As I write this, Creedence Clearwater Revivals song, “Fortunate Son”, is playing and it makes me feel good. Very good. In a very bad, mischievous sort of way. It gives me great pleasure to see the establishment smear Dr. Paul because I know the truth is that the controversy spreads our message further. The beauty of it all is, we need only tell people to check the mans spotless record of honesty and integrity, and all the lies fall away. Without a doubt we are now in Ghandi’s “They fight you,” stage.I’ve just watched several of our extremely entertaining Boston Tea Party Call to Action videos. The Revolutionaries dressed as Indians throwing tea into the harbor is a classic piece of imagery in American Culture. Who wouldn’t be inspired to join the American rascals themselves and toss a few crates into the harbor just for the hell of it? My question I will attempt to answer is, what has helped to galvanize us all so effectively?

The imagery of the American Revolution, paintings, drawings, maps, and names are etched into our minds. As Americans we take great pride in our Bald Eagle, our Stars and Stripes and The Statue of Liberty. The painting of our first President crossing the Delaware can still inspire reverence in the mostly desensitized generation of young adults currently fanning the flames of this Congressmans new American Revolution. It makes sense to draw on these iconic models as they are the foundation of our basic civic education.

Today a person posted that they were caught crying at work after viewing the Land of the Free video at the bottom of this post. I must admit I almost did myself. The images of the British and the American soldiers clashing will always make my chest feel full of pride and defiance. These images are being put to good use by the Ron Paul Resistance Movement to inspire current supporters and new ones to speak with their checkbook. It has taken the decline of the Dollar, one of our greatest American icon to motivate some people to give it freely to a politician for the first time in their lives.

Dollar Symbol

Our Revolution comes pre-loaded with all the images and icons we need to slap on our T-Shirts, and Bumper Stickers to attract the attention of the average Joe American. At the Philadelphia Rally last weekend someone raised the Join or Die Flag from a political cartoon drawn in 1754 by Benjamin Franklin. It was published in the Pennsylvania Gazette in support of the Albany Congress, whose purpose was to present a united English colonial front against the French in North America at the outbreak of the French and Indian War. It’s meaning is no less relevant to our movement.

Join or Die

The Ron Paul Rally Project sponsored and created the beloved picture of Dr. Paul set above the Constitution. Many photos of various supporters make up the entire portrait, adding a sense of tangible strength and solidarity to the work of art. No doubt it stirred hearts to support him at the Ames, Iowa Straw Poll it was advertising for.

Ames Ad

Our Youtube Videos are absolutely career launchingly brilliant, and often devilishly clever in how they motivate us to open our pocketbooks.Donating on November 5th felt like a true sense of civic duty. One would imagine feeling remarkably ashamed by pledging to this cause and not paying up. I’m sure I am not the only person to feel this way. Can you even fathom a politician 5 years ago, whose profound character so inspired you, that you would feel real guilt for not donating to his campaign? Another poster invokes World War II and say’s “Doing all you can, Brother?” This calls into question all Americans to ask if they are doing enough to fix the obviously broken American Political system.

Doing all you can brother?

The genuine warmth and depth of emotion Ron Paul stirs in us is obvious. The images are just pictures. The feelings for the Second American Revolution is real.

“Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
Ooh, they’re red, white and blue.
And when the band plays “Hail to the Chief”,
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord” -John Fogerty

This Means War!!!

Austin Petersen
November 12, 2007

The evidence is in… the verdict is guilty.

http://www.shoutwire.com/viewstory/…

The Main Stream Media has betrayed the American people.

The Media has deliberately covered Ron Paul up. The polls are deliberately not including his name. We have been had.

Citizens of the World,

Our American nation is now poised on the precipice of a Real new American Revolution. This is not a revolution that can be fought with muskets or indeed weapons of any kind. It will have to be fought with our minds and our wills alone against ourselves. We have a short window of opportunity within which to act, and by acting restore our Civil Liberties, and rule of Law. Our Liberties are not the Governments to take away! No man may deprive me of life, liberty, or property without due process, regardless of the unconstitutional laws this criminal administration has penned. The American people must begin to work together on a massive scale for our own collective survival and we must ignite the flames of Liberty again in the hearts of our countrymen.

Too long have we slept in silence hypnotized by our high tech gadgetry and silver light up toys, as giggling dark bogeymen worked feverishly behind our back making plans to build dynastic empires. For too long have we been ignorant of our history and neglectful of our laws, and our masterpiece of Civilization and Humanity, The American Constitution. Brothers and Sisters, we must work together swiftly to educate and inform the American public of the very real danger we are in.

Think of the work we must do! At this point in time we have a nation filled with people who know more about Britney Spears mating habits then the value of the money they hold in their hands. The dollar slips on World Markets. Our inheritances dwindle. Private Mercenaries with the power to usurp our government (indeed it looks like they might have already) rape and pillage in Iraq and elsewhere, in our name. Is this the American Dream? We are in very real danger and we must be unflagging in our efforts to elect Dr. Ron Paul as our next President.

We have subverted our rule of law so long that we have even convinced ourselves that this country must return to a DEMOCRACY! Yet, I say we are a Republic!

We are indeed stronger and more real than we could have ever imagined. November 5th showed us thatWe have real power… and they are terrified. Good. They’re in big trouble.

US Soldiers across the world hear me now… we are bringing you home! Your lives will not be sacrificed anymore on the anvil of Corporate Greed.

The Ron Paul Revolution is coming to Washington. It’s time to take out the garbage.

Yours in Liberty

-Austin Petersen
